Get Your First Coaching Client in 7 Days (Even If You’re Brand New!)
How to Get Your First Coaching Client in 7 Days (Even If You’re Brand New)
Starting a coaching business can feel overwhelming — especially if you've been posting on social media, doing outreach, creating content, and still haven’t landed your first client.
But here’s the truth: it’s not as complicated as it seems.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through a simple, step-by-step process to get your first coaching client in just seven days. This is the exact process I use with clients — and one of them landed their first $5K sale within a week of starting.
Step 1: Build Your Foundations in 24–72 Hours
Before you do anything else, get clear on two essentials:
Your Ideal Client Profile (ICP)
Your Offer
This step doesn’t need to take more than a day or two — especially if you already have a good sense of who you want to help.
Let’s break each part down:
Define Your Ideal Client (ICP)
Your goal here is to get specific. Not “I help women lose weight,” but something more like:
“I help busy moms in their 40s who work part-time and feel overwhelmed by their schedule, don’t know where to start with fitness, and have put on 20–30 pounds in the last few years.”
The more specific you are, the easier the next steps become.
Create a Simple Offer
Your offer is just a solution to your ideal client’s main problem. That’s it.
For example: “I help busy moms lose 20 pounds in 12 weeks without restrictive diets by using a system they can stick to — even with kids, work, and a full schedule.”
Don't overthink it. Don’t worry about logos, websites, or funnels yet. Just get it on paper.
Step 2: Get in Front of the Right People
Once your foundation is set, it’s time to get visible. If no one knows you exist, no one can hire you.
There are 3 proven ways to generate awareness:
Option 1: Organic Content
This is where most new coaches start — but it’s also where most get stuck. Social media platforms don’t show your posts to everyone who follows you. You might post every day, but only 10% of your audience sees it.
That’s why relying only on content can slow you down.
Option 2: Outreach
Outreach works. You can message old contacts, friends, or Facebook group members. But for many coaches, this feels uncomfortable — especially when you're just starting out.
Option 3: Paid Ads (Recommended)
This is the fastest way to land your first client — even if you’ve never run ads before.
Running a paid ad simply means putting a message in front of the right person — and you don’t even need to use video.
Here’s an example of a simple ad that worked for one of our clients:
Image Text:
“Got pain? Are you 40+ with tightness or aches? Join our free community to fix it now.”
That’s it. No fancy graphics. Just a message that speaks to the pain and offers a next step.
You can create this in your Notes app, screenshot it, and run it as an ad for just a few dollars a day.
One of our clients paid $4.72 per lead with an ad like this — and turned those leads into paying clients within a week.
Step 3: Nurture and Build Trust
Getting leads is only half the battle.
Now you need to nurture those leads — get them to know, like, and trust you.
Here’s how to do it fast:
Call your leads: Don’t wait days. As soon as someone opts in, give them a quick call. You don’t need to sell them anything yet — just start a conversation.
Send value emails: Share helpful tips that solve their biggest problem. Keep it short and relevant to your niche.
Be present: Whether it’s inside a Facebook group, a DMs conversation, or a Zoom chat — make sure your ideal client sees you as a real person who genuinely wants to help.
Remember: People don’t buy coaching — they buy solutions to their problems.
Step 4: Book the Sales Call
Once you’ve had an initial connection (even just a quick value call or DM), it’s time to ask:
“If there was a way I could help you [insert result] even with your [insert obstacle], would you be open to having a conversation about how that could work?”
That one sentence can open the door to your first coaching sale.
It’s called the “If I could, would you?” method. It’s low pressure and focused on the client’s needs — not a sales script.
Step 5: Convert the Sale
Now it’s time to actually enroll the client.
The key here is simple:
Show them you understand their problem
Show them you have a system to solve it
Show them others like them have succeeded with you
That’s it.
You don’t need a long pitch deck. Just confidence, clarity, and a clear outcome.
One of our clients followed this exact process. He was brand new. He had no website. He ran a simple Facebook ad, got people into a free community, had a few conversations, and booked a call.
A week later, he closed his first $5,000 coaching client.
Final Thoughts: Take Imperfect Action
Too many new coaches wait until everything is “perfect.” Website done. Funnel built. Social media polished. But all of that delays the real goal — helping people and getting paid.
Your ideal client is already out there. They’re in pain. They want help. They’re looking for someone like you.
If you keep putting it off, not only are you losing income — your ideal client is going another day without the support they need.
So here’s the challenge:
Build your ICP and offer in the next 48 hours
Run a simple ad (or do outreach) to generate leads
Talk to those leads and nurture the relationship
Ask them if they’re open to a solution
Have a real conversation — and make your first sale
Don’t wait. Take the first step today.
